Martina found tetra paks of 100% Elderberry juice in a supermarket in Germany.......so.....Off to the supermarket i went, and bought the stuff, as She had a 15 litre fermenter empty *gasp*
3 litres Elderberry juice
3 litres Red Grape Juice
3 litres Pressed Apple juice
3 tsp Acid Blend (all she had)
1.5 tsp Minavit Ultra yeast nutrient (dosage = 1/2 tsp per gallon)
3 tsp Pectolase
2 kilos sugar
(no bentonite available)
Lalvin K1V-1116 yeast
water to around 13 litres....will top up to 15 after initial vigorous ferment
made up yeast starter before going to shops, warm water, pinch of nutrient, pinch of acid tsp sugar....when i got back from shops it was full steam ahead in the starter bottle. (i was gone about 2 hours)
made up must, pitched yeast starter and it fired straight up
at 13 litres Sg stands at 1.090 so 2 litres water added should get it in target range (1.080-1.084)
