VWC August 22, 2009 Meeting - 19:30

Will take place on Saturday August 22nd at 19.30 BST

We will be discussing, the competition process, what happens at a show, what dooes a judge do, what does a steward do? and will have video sequences, to help remove the mystique of the wine comp and maybe encourage more of you to "have a go" at competing, and perhaps stewarding (a rewarding experience)

Perhaps some video from the VWC competition the saturday before (this will depend on time, maybe we can sett up a webcam link, again this will depend on time available as it will be a busy day.

Because the blackberries and elderberries are to be harvested about now and into september, we have decided to change the video to this one

If you have difficulty getting it, then we can send some to you, it will be nice to all have the same wine. We will be using the marking sheet attached. Download it and have fun using it, you will quickly become familiar with it, and be able to assess wines more effectively, the wines you make, and those you buy.

Arghh... I won't be able to attend.

I had this down as being on Sunday, but I see now that it's actually Saturday, and I have my non-Virtual Winemaking Club meeting that day.

but I vaguely remember that sat was the favourite choice when the poll was run (at least I think it was......goes off to check....)

No Steve you were right Sunday evening at 7.30pm BST was the No 1 choice (7 votes) closely followed by Sat evening at 7.30pm BST (6 votes)

It has gone back and forth due to clashes with other events, this time for Pontefract Show, but we need a definite time/day of the month


Sundays can be difficult for Martina and I as either she or I are travelling that day between Germany and here, however I have no problem with it being on Sundays if that suits the majority, but I would likely be missing more than I would attend.

Ah well... no matter. If that's what works best, then fine by me. I can't make it this Saturday, but don't see a problem down the road.

I will not be able to attend this time. I have a prior commitment to my wife and son to attend his wedding. I will more than likely be out of commission the next day as well.I plan to consume more than my share of the wine hic should be good.
